BIOGRAPHY 2007

THE HISTORY: Formed in 2000 on the Mornington Peninsula by Liz Naumann and Michelle Albiston. With hard work, passion and determination, Vespertine have undergone a series of personnel and name changes to come up with this; the definitive line-up, ready make its mark on the Australian music scene.

Re-emerging onto the live scene this year in March at the Peninsula Lounge (Nominated Best Live Venue - 2007 Jack Awards), joined by the talents and experience of Francesco Manuse' on guitar and Zoran Mijatovic on drums, the band is now stronger than ever. Vespertine have played a number of scorching shows over the years at venues across Melbourne, including the Hi-Fi Bar, Live @ Crown, Ruby's Lounge, the Greyhound and a headline spot at the Dan O'Connell to name but a few.

2007 has been a productive year for Vespertine: with an interview and acoustic set on SYN FM; appearing live on Channel 31 for the Youth Empowerment Against Aids (Y.E.A.H.) Telethon; being selected to participate in the "Poptarts" showcase of top female fronted bands which features their single "Perfect Storm" on the "Poptarts Music Sampler 2" CD; and also recording the B-Side "Slow Down" for their Independent Single "Perfect Storm."

Other career highlights include: supporting Jebediah in 2002; a highly sought-after position on the "Press Play Vol. 1" compilation CD in 2001; the band coming away victorious from Frankston's much-lauded "Mortal Kombat" battle-of-the-bands competition (under their former moniker of "Vital Essence"); a spot on the successful "Punkrock n Rebuild" Tsunami Benefit Show in February 2005, and also in the same year recording "Perfect Storm" with Craig Harnath at Hothouse in St. Kilda.

THE SOUND: Described by The Buzz Magazine (Melbourne) as "infectious and creative," Vespertine is infused with the diverse influences of its individual members, rendering it capable of anything from blistering rock and jarring dissonance to dream-like mellow moments of ethereal beauty. All of which fortified with songwriter Liz Naumann's highly attuned pop sensibilities and stellar song-crafting talent. The end result is music immediate and accessible yet endowed with a depth seldom found in today's climate of disposability. Music, that is indeed to be savoured.

THE FUTURE: Vespertine will soon be releasing an Independent Single for "Perfect Storm" (lead track of their self-titled demo), with which to launch their sound onto an unsuspecting public and spread their message across the country. They are primed. They are ready. And they want to play for you! Hear the potential. Email vespertineband@hotmail.com and book them now !!!
